Application:
AFS (anti-freeze solution) is a cryoprotective agent commonly used in biological research. It is a glycerol-based salt solution containing sodium chloride, sodium phosphate, potassium chloride and potassium phosphate, glycerol and ethylene glycol. AFS is useful to maintain a structure and stabilize the protein targets for immunohistochemistry.
CAUTIONS: This solution contains the anti-freeze solution, ethylene glycol and sodium azide. Although ethylene glycol is not specifically list as a hazardous waste under the resource conservation and recovery act (RCRA) [40 USC 6901 et seq.], please confirm with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines handling, emergency procedures and waste disposal (see att. File).
